Artist Beach Huts for arts festival

I’ve just spent 4 weeks painting 6 bespoke artist designed beach huts for a new arts festival in Thurrock: ‘Village Beach’, curated by Metal. These huts will add colour to the Thameside location and will create spaces for a cinema, a museum, a childrens literature space, a busking stage and more.

I’ve been working with a small crew in a disused building, the huts will be constructed on site for the festival on the 18th July. I’ve loved being a ‘jobbing painter’ – working with paint and colour all day long, it gets you thinking about your own practice: the scale, the impact of these designs and their being located in public space as working ‘art objects’.
