State of Her: a retrospective at the Beecroft Gallery Southend-on-Sea
‘State of Her: a retrospective’ surveys three decades of my exploration of the female form. Known for my bold visual strategies and psychologically charged imagery, the exhibition brings together drawing, painting, film, photography, banners and found objects, across the entire ground floor of the Beecroft Gallery Southend-on-Sea (venue for New Contemporaries 2027). Occupying a space between fine art, popular culture and social critique and drawing upon mass media imagery, ancient archetypes and art histories, ‘State of Her’ presents a distinctive hybrid visual language that challenges and subverts the representation of women in public and private space.
