The spirit of Boudicca and the mythical Amazons is alive and well, channeled through these battle-maidens and she-warriors !

My collaborative ‘Superstrumps’ with writer Syd Moore re-presented itself at WOW Festival at the Southbank Centre in March 2015, 4 years after its launch at the same venue via BBC Woman’s Hour – this time in the guise of ‘Sheroes’. This is a dressing-up event for women and girls to ‘Sabotage Stereotypes and Awaken Superpowers’ ! Over 120 participants experimented with new creative identities and struck assertive poses for Polaroids and ‘selfies’. They then created  a ‘Sheroes’ game card, denoting a ‘Super-Shero’ name for themselves with their imagined superpowers…see some fabulous images below.

We then presented a version for the ‘Stricty Sisters’ event at Spotlight youth space in Poplar – which went down a storm, the girls really ‘acted up’ in their creative new identities…

We’ll soon be working with the charity ‘Who made Your Pants?’ on a new photo campaign…watch this space!
