DESCRIPTION

I commissioned ‘The Curve’ conceived and designed by artist Jane Woollatt while working with Metal as project manager on the arts event End of Term in Southend on Sea July 2011, a day I billed as a bit of ‘gentle anarchy and creative chaos’. The Curve functions as an interactive drawing wall; I later facilitated the piece at The Southbank Centre in August 2011 by creating line drawings with chalkpens, this encouraged a performative interaction and participants developed my drawings with chalks later in the day. The wall cleverly reinvents itself with each artist that leads it, either as an event or a workshop. As part of End of Term I also commissioned 6 artists to create an 8 hole ‘Artist Crazy Golf’ range aimed at encouraging imaginary play through the challenge to discover, negotiate and engage in process over predictable solutions. It made no sense at all and people loved it. ‘LINES’ an interactive blackboard at the same event, invited participants to complete the lines: I WILL NOT… I WILL… WILL I…with some interesting results over the course of the day.
