I tend to work in series, reconfiguring and re-presenting the same elements. The image of the human simulacrum via the mannequin, doll, dummy, figurine and idol, is a recurring motif throughout my practice.
I am interested in the complex desires and anxieties the doll/dummy can provoke. She/it looks human but she/it is not what she/it seems.
Through the transformative potential of drawing, the inanimate doll is made ‘live’ – could the uncanny aura of the doll be the unacknowledged ‘holy’ for our secular time?
